Your recovery is important – too important to trust it to a potentially subpar treatment center. That’s why credentials like accreditations, certifications, and licenses make it much easier to know whether a rehab is high-quality.
What Accreditations Mean for Addiction Treatment Centers
Certifications, licenses, and accreditations let you know that third-party organizations that specialize in addiction recovery and/or mental health facilities have independently found that a rehab is providing quality care. They each expire so they need to be renewed on a regular basis.
Each of these credentials will differ. For example, state licensing is typically required for a rehab to operate in that state. Accreditations, on the other hand, are voluntary for rehabs to pursue. They typically involve an in-depth, on-site examination of the rehab’s practices and facilities to determine if they meet the accrediting organization’s high standards for rehabs.
Ultimately, the credentials that a rehab has will tell you whether it offers treatment and facilities that are high-quality enough to meet high standards. You could think of it as knowledgeable organizations vouching for a facility’s trustworthiness.
Boca Recovery Center National Accreditations and Certifications
There aren’t any national accreditations or certifications that are required to operate an addiction treatment center in the US. But our team knows that you want to find a rehab you can trust, so we’ve taken the extra steps to apply for and win accreditations or certifications from multiple nationally recognized organizations.
The Joint Commission – Gold Seal of Approval®

Accredited April 27th, 2024 ᐧ Valid until April 26th, 2027
The Joint Commission is a nationwide organization that independently reviews healthcare organizations, awarding their Gold Seal of Approval to those that meet their high standards.
They conduct comprehensive on-site evaluations and also require accredited organizations to maintain ongoing improvements between the three-year accreditation cycles. Our five treatment centers proudly carry The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval.
SAMHSA Certification

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, or SAMHSA, is the primary organization that manages addiction and mental health care in the federal government.
SAMHSA is best known for their treatment locator findtreatment.gov, a directory of SAMHSA certified and trusted treatment centers throughout the country. Boca Recovery Center, listed at our Boca Raton headquarters, is proud to be part of this list.
LegitScript Certification

LegitScript is an organization that focuses on transparency and trustworthiness in online healthcare marketing. In other words, they review treatment centers’ websites to see whether they uphold high standards of integrity and transparency while they’re advertising their services.
LegitScript specifically does this for the healthcare industry, and addiction treatment centers are one of their three key specialties. Boca Recovery Center is proud to be LegitScript Certified, so you can be confident that what you read on our website is true.

Do I need to choose an accredited rehab?
A state license is typically required for a rehab center to legally operate in a particular state. Accreditations, on the other hand, are voluntary for rehabs to apply for. So, while the rehab you choose doesn’t have to be accredited, an accreditation does tell you that you’ll receive quality treatment.
How do I verify a facility’s accreditation?
There are several accrediting organizations that can assess rehab centers, and each of them maintains their own database of accredited rehabs. To verify an accreditation, visit the accrediting organization’s website. For example, The Joint Commission has their own accreditation verification on their site.
What’s the difference between accreditation and licensing?
Licensing is legally required by a state in order for a rehab to operate there. It’s primarily a matter of filing key documentation, but it often doesn’t require quality reviews. Accreditation, on the other hand, is an optional credential that a rehab can apply for through a specific organization.
Accreditations are much more difficult to earn because they involve throughout evaluations of the rehab’s facility, staff, and practices to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
Does accreditation guarantee specific treatment outcomes?
No, accreditation doesn’t guarantee any particular treatment outcomes or levels of success. There are numerous factors that affect how successful your rehab experience and recovery will be, so no rehab can guarantee long-term sobriety (although some do offer assurance in the form of free additional treatment if you relapse after completing their program).
An accredited rehab, however, can give you a higher chance of success than a rehab that’s not accredited.
Are accreditations and licensing tied to specific programs or locations?
Yes. As you’ll see, each of our treatment centers is licensed separately in the state where it operates, and our Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval lists each of our locations distinctly. Accreditations and licenses also often list specific programs or levels of care, like detox or residential rehab.
Finding a rehab center you can trust is one of the first and most important choices that impact your recovery.
